Description

A Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining, managing, and troubleshooting computer networks within an organization. This role encompasses a wide range of tasks, including monitoring network performance, implementing security protocols, and ensuring the reliability and availability of network infrastructure. Network Administrators play a crucial role in configuring hardware and software, responding to network issues, and optimizing network systems to enhance performance and efficiency. They work closely with IT teams to update systems and safeguard network integrity, providing essential support that enables seamless business operations.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- In-depth knowledge of LANs, WANs, VPNs, and other networking technologies
- Proficiency with network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP), routing (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching

Responsabilities

- Configure and support local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and Internet systems
- Implement security measures to protect network data and infrastructure, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems
- Conduct regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection and disaster recovery
- Manage VPNs for remote access and ensure secure connectivity for remote employees
- Perform regular network performance tuning and optimize settings for peak performance
- Collaborate with IT team members to design and implement network enhancements or updates
- Provide technical support and training to end-users regarding network usage and best practices
- Document network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities to ensure accurate record-keeping
- Oversee and support VoIP systems to ensure reliable communication within the organization
- Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions to accommodate growth or new technologies
- Manage network-related hardware and software inventory, including procurement and replacements
- Conduct network vulnerability assessments and implement recommended patches or updates
- Assist in developing and enforcing IT policies and procedures related to network usage and security
- Liaise with vendors and service providers for network-related services and agreements
- Monitor network performance to identify opportunities for improvement
- Stay current with emerging network technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions
- Verify and respond to network alerts and incidents in a timely manner

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Network Administrator role will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with proven experience in network administration or a similar capacity.
