Description

A Data Center Technician is a vital part of the team responsible for maintaining and managing data center operations. This role involves monitoring and ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of data center hardware, including servers, networking equipment, and storage devices. Data Center Technicians also perform routine system checks, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and implement upgrades to optimize the data center’s efficiency. Working closely with IT and engineering teams, they contribute to the seamless operation of critical infrastructure, supporting the organization’s data management and digital operations.

Requirements

- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, or Cisco CCNA
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a data center or similar environment
- Proficiency in hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and equipment

Responsabilities

- Monitor and respond to data center alarms and alerts
- Perform routine maintenance on servers, networking equipment, and other hardware
- Install and configure new hardware and software systems
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and perform necessary repairs
- Manage and document equipment inventory
- Conduct physical inspections of data center facilities to ensure proper cooling, security, and cleanliness
- Perform cable management and maintain organized racks and equipment layouts
- Assist with data migration and backups
- Collaborate with remote teams to coordinate tasks and resolve issues
- Implement and uphold data center policies, procedures, and best practices
- Respond to and resolve support tickets related to data center operations
- Support disaster recovery planning and execution
- Update and maintain accurate records of data center infrastructure
- Assist with the decommissioning and recycling of obsolete equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Ideal Candidate
