Description

A Litigation Paralegal plays a crucial role in the legal process by providing essential support to attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and other litigation proceedings. This position involves conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and various court documents, as well as managing case files and maintaining an organized trial calendar. Additionally, Litigation Paralegals often interview witnesses, gather and analyze evidence, and coordinate various logistical aspects of a trial. With strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail, they ensure that all aspects of litigation are thoroughly prepared and efficiently executed.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field
- Paralegal certification from an American Bar Association (ABA)-approved program
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, principles, and procedures

Responsabilities

- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Draft, review, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and subpoenas
- Organize and manage case files, ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date
- Assist attorneys in preparing for court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and depositions
- Coordinate and schedule appointments, meetings, and depositions with clients, witnesses, and experts
- Maintain a calendar of critical deadlines and ensure timely filing of legal documents
- Interview clients, witnesses, and other related parties to gather statements and evidence
- Prepare and organize exhibits, evidence, and other necessary materials for court presentations
- Conduct background checks and locate relevant information using online databases and public records
- Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimony for attorney review
- Assist in the preparation and filing of legal briefs and memoranda
- Collaborate with other paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff to ensure cohesive and efficient workflow
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, copying, and scanning documents
- Contact and follow up with courts, law enforcement agencies, and other involved entities as required
- Manage and track billable hours, ensuring accurate and timely entry into billing systems
- Facilitate the service of legal documents to involved parties via certified mail or process servers
- Support attorneys in trial preparation by organizing documents, coordinating witnesses, and managing all logistics
- Provide general support to attorneys during court proceedings, including note-taking and ensuring immediate access to required documents
