Responsabilities

The Distribution Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the distribution center, ensuring that all processes are executed smoothly and efficiently. This includes coordinating the reception, handling, storage, and dispatch of products to various destinations. They develop, implement, and monitor operational policies and procedures to enhance productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Distribution Lead supervises and mentors team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Identifying areas for improvement, they work on optimizing routing schedules and distribution methods to reduce costs and improve delivery times.

Apart from managing internal logistics, the Distribution Lead plays a critical role in maintaining and developing relationships with external partners, such as suppliers, vendors, and transport companies. They negotiate contracts, oversee vendor performance, and ensure that all parties adhere to the agreed standards and timelines. The Distribution Lead also tracks inventory levels meticulously, ensuring adequate stock while avoiding overstock situations. They handle the resolution of any distribution-related issues, employing their strong problem-solving skills to mitigate disruptions. Moreover, they ensure that all operations comply with safety and regulatory standards, implementing necessary actions to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

A Distribution Lead typically requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field to support their expertise in managing complex distribution operations. Additionally, certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from APICS can enhance the Distribution Lead’s qualifications. Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and other logistics software is essential.
