Description

A Paralegal plays a crucial role in the legal field by providing essential support to attorneys and legal teams. They are responsible for conducting legal research, preparing documents, organizing case files, and maintaining a high level of confidentiality. They assist in drafting pleadings, correspondence, and legal memoranda, ensuring that all materials comply with current laws and regulations. Additionally, Paralegals may be involved in client interviews, fact-finding, and liaising with other professionals. Their comprehensive skill set and attention to detail enable them to efficiently facilitate the smooth operation of legal processes.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field
- Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program
- Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation
- Proven research and analytical skills
- Proficiency in legal research software and tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)

Responsabilities

- Conduct legal research to support attorneys' cases and legal strategies
- Draft, review, and prepare a variety of legal documents including pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Organize and maintain case files and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions
- Liaise with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and schedule appointments
- Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimonies
- File documents with the court and serve legal papers
- Track billable hours and manage case budgets
- Participate in client meetings and note detailed information for case progression
- Analyze and summarize legal information, statutes, and case law
- Maintain confidentiality of all client and case information
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and managing correspondence
- Assist in preparing exhibits, evidence, and trial materials
- Manage and coordinate discovery processes, including the collection, review, and production of documents
- Support attorneys in transactional work, such as contract review and due diligence
- Collaborate with other legal team members to ensure the timely progression of cases
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to active cases
- Conduct witness interviews and prepare witness statements
- Ensure proper filing and indexing of legal documents for easy retrieval
- Prepare and manage legal documentation for corporate matters, such as incorporations, mergers, and acquisitions

Ideal Candidate
