A Payroll Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees within an organization. This position involves a variety of tasks such as data entry, maintaining payroll records, and assisting with the preparation and distribution of paychecks. Payroll Assistants are responsible for verifying timesheets, processing deductions, and handling payroll inquiries. They also ensure compliance with company policies and relevant laws. Requirements

- Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer payroll-related inquiries
- Prepare and process direct deposit payments and manual payroll checks
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Calculate and process employee benefits, deductions, and garnishments
- Collaborate with HR for accurate employee onboarding and offboarding
- Generate payroll reports for management and finance departments
- Enter and validate timekeeping information and timesheets
- Assist in year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation
- Reconcile payroll accounts and handle necessary adjustments
- Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll information
- Stay current with changes in payroll laws and regulations
- Provide excellent customer service to employees on payroll issues
- Support payroll audits by providing necessary documentation
- Review and process expense reimbursements
- Coordinate with third-party services for payroll tax filings
- Process payroll-related journal entries in the accounting system
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the payroll manager
